March 12th

Another 12th is here - today promises to be interesting as I'm training a new guy today. Thing is I only have one week to do so before I start my new job.

But in the meanwhile - check this link out: http://play.blogger.com/

Okay - I seriously needed out of the house!

Dragged Bill along (after he woke up) to go hit a couple caches and go wheeling now that the weather has decided to cooperate. The first cache we hit was a new one outside of the Kit Kat Ranch, and apparently the GeoJeepers were so eager to get out of there that they missed the FTF prize - a Starbucks card. So, guess who got it?

Headed across the road and up onto the old V&T bed to go grab a few caches from last year's Rally. However, after the first two were DNF'd we just stuck to driving and bounced our way up the hills to American Flats. Bill was (wrongly) told that "they" had begun tearing the old mill down, but there she stood in all her ruined glory. I love looking at those ruins from a distance, but the place sure creeps me out up close.

Since I couldn't find the way down to the ruins and our time was limited, I chose instead to show Bill Silver City's cemetary up in the hills above the town. He enjoyed that, but I had no time to stop and wander through the headstones.

Off to work where Mike was introduced to me and I began training the closer/replacement. I didn't know if he'd heard I was leaving (found out a couple days later he knows) so I just went along as if I would be there. He's quick, picking up what I'm showing him, and puzzling his way through the various tasks. I've confidence in him that he'll succeed here.

Alas, no pictures from the work day - hard to take pics on the casino floor itself and really had no time for a break.

Pictures for this month's 12 of 12: March
