February 12th

This has been a fantastic day. I went hiking!!

The weather has finally started to warm up (though rumor is tomorrow it's supposed to suck again). Decided that it was time to get out of the house and actually start walking again. I've begun walking to work since it's so close and last night I laid out the plan to hike to several unfound caches in the area that have just been sitting there - mainly due to them being hikes.

This morning I did research on Lori's Lookout, the closest cache to me. This four stage multi has been sitting for a year with my name on only three of the logs. But when I got there today, I found that the fourth was further than I thought, so I changed my mind and hiked up to Bear Rock.

A steep, snowy, muddy tromp up the hill - with the constant mantra of looking over at Freel and saying, yelling, screaming "This is all for YOU!" - got me up to an outcropping of granite where I sat and had my lunch overlooking Hwy 50 going up to Spooner.

Came home and watched some firemen using the old church nearby as practice as they hauled the hose into the building and then turned on the water. Cool stuff, wish I could ahve been closer to watch it, though I hate the thought of getting in their way.

Bill got a call that his refund check was in, so we drove out to his folks place and then turned immediately around as I was due for school. Thankfully we made it back with 45 minutes to spare so I grabbed a quick dinner of soup and then off for some learning.

Tuesday nights are my GIS class - we're focusing mainly on geodatabases this semester and tonight we learned how to edit and create new Feature Datasets. With the primary focus being on establishing the correct spatial reference and the extent. Then we worked on the class assignment and the project assignment. The first was just a recap of what we learned, the second is beginning to put everything from last semester and the stuff from this one together to build a personal geodatabase from scratch. Cake walk so far, but we're picking up the pace and I may have to forgo helping others simply to stay focused on what's being said.

Once home, sat and watched Last Holiday while Bill got ready for work. But, it's my Saturday and I'm going to enjoy my Sunday. Hopefully I'll get to do some caching tomorrow. There's a few left here in Carson that I still haven't gotten. Oh to have this valley cleaned out again!
